As I was getting some stuff done on my computer a Tweet popped up on my screen from Lynn Terry from ClickNewz.com. The Tweet commented that Frank Kern had paid her site a visit, so I thought I would check it out. You can see for yourself here: 10 Conversion Sectrets
After reading Lynn’s post and seeing all the comments, I was left with mixed feelings. It got me to thinking about the leaders in our Industry and what makes them a leader. I have never been a big fan of Frank Kern, he has some great marketing advice, but never really cared for the way he comes across. Not putting the guy down, just not my style I guess.
Anyways, as I was thinking about what makes a good leader I thought about people like Lynn Terry, even though she is not in the MLM Industry, there is much you can learn from her. I appreciate her integrity and her caring for those in the Clicknewz community. I also thought about Mike Dillard of Magnetic Sponsoring, who has played a huge impact on how I do business. There are others I could mention such as, Eben Pagan, Yanik Silver, etc. But what makes them leaders? Or maybe I should say, what makes them “good” leaders in the Industry?
It is said that “birds of a feather flock together” and I have found that to be true in many different situations. People who have rejection issues, seems to always find friends with the same issues. People with an entrepreneurial mindset don’t normally make it a huge habit to hang out with people that have a “poverty mentality”. What I am trying to get as is, people always seem to flock to others with the same issues, beliefs, mindsets, etc.
I believe Mike Dillard provides a great answer to what makes a good leader in his book Magnetic Sponsoring. He gives a list of qualities that makes a good “Alpha” or Leader.
Here are some tidbits of what Mike says in his book:
“Alphas are the people whom others want to be like. They know exactly what they want and focus their energies on achieving their goals. They offer tremendous amounts of value to others, they truly love themselves. They love and protect those who matter to them. They respect themselves, and their bodies, dressing with style, and living healthy lifestyles.”
You may disagree, but Mike brings out some great points. I see those kinds of traits in Mike, Lynn, Eben and Yanik. Which brought me to another question, is it smart to follow “leaders” who don’t show those kinds of traits?
This is where people start getting uncomfortable. J Just because someone is successful in business, does that qualify them to be worthy of your time and/or money? Personally, I don’t believe so. Why is it we show more respect to someone with a lot of money compared to someone who may know a lot, but not have millions? Is that right or fair? When I choose people that I want to learn from, they have to qualify for my time. And I do look at how they live when they are not in the spot light. You may think that is irrelevant and that’s fine if you do. That’s just not how I roll. J I’m not talking about being judgmental of that person, nobody is perfect. But I would rather learn marketing from someone who lives with integrity rather than someone who promotes drugs. See what I’m saying? Talking about drug or cussing does not show me they are professionals. In fact it shows the opposite.
I have found in all areas of life, when you have leaders and followers, the followers usually start acting like the leaders and adopting their attitudes and beliefs. Since that is true, it makes sense to be a little more picky about whom you follow and learn from.
Now let me turn this around a little. I encourage you whether you agree or disagree with what I have said. Be the best leader you can be for your down line. Be the person who leads the way to success for those team members who don’t have a clue what to do. Show them how to become better people and that they are worth more than just settling for second best. Because you know what? Whether you know it or not, there are people looking up to you to lead the way and they might want to be just like you. Are you the leader you want to be?

Well, today I had to do something I didn’t want to do. I had to switch hosting companies. I didn’t really know what to expect, but thanks to Roy Montero, it wasn’t all that hard. I decided to go with Hostgator.com, I was able to get a coupon code that got me my first month for a penny! What a deal! The customer service was helpful and they are switching over my domain names over for free. So all in all, it wasn’t that bad of an experience.

Remember, for those of you thinking about starting a blog with wordpress. You will want to have it hosted by a company like hostgator. Wordpress is nasty for shutting people down who promote MLM, Network Marketing and affiliate marketing. There is just a lot more freedom in having it hosted as well.

First off I apologize for this post being a little late. I got hit with a 24 hour bug, which messed my day up. Anyways…
The point of MLM Empire Training is not to promote my businesses, but I had to share something that I thought would make a good topic.
A company I joined about a year and a half ago just released a product that I think will sell like hotcakes. I haven’t done anything with this business, so building a business isn’t really the priority, just retailing this product.
The reason I bring this up is that I thought this could turn into a pretty cool case study on marketing the retail side of things. Far too often we only focus on bringing people into the business, we never really focus on the retail. I always try to work on both sides. So in this case study, your thoughts, input and ideas are important, so this should be fun.
So here is the run down…
The product is a gas chip that goes underneath your gas tank. There are a few other little things involved, but the idea is people can save up to on gas mileage.
If someone buys a chip they also have the option of coming in as a distributor for free and therefore getting the chip at distributor cost. Now this could turn out to be a great way to build a down line depending on how you look at things. I have mixed thoughts on that, but that’s another topic.
I figure there is no greater time to marketing something like this since gas prices are insane right now! But, I have already found there to be a couple down sides. Which I will cover in another post.
So here is the deal, I want to go through all the steps of retailing a product in an MLM business. Most already know the offline way of doing things, so I want to cover the online way of doing things. That’s where you come in…
I want your opinions and ideas, what’s worked for you and what hasn’t. The one who provided the most valuable info that produces the best results wins a Free Gas Chip.

Scott Boulch, who is very tired of the whole “Marketing Gurus” sucking all the money out of people with very little return for the customers, has written an eBook on the subject called The Internet Marketing Cure. You can click on the picture and down load it, it’s free! From what I have read so far, it’s very good and Scotts brings out some very good points.
The thing I want to share with you is a statement that was made in the book. Scott brings up that there are Marketing “Gurus” and Marketing “Dorus”. Which one are you? Not saying that all of the Marketing “Gurus” that we know are bad, but the point is there are a LOT of people out there selling info products, memberships, classes, etc. telling people what to do, but never doing it themselves.
That’s how they make their money and a lot of money for that matter. They aren’t making money on the things they are telling you do to. Which raises another good question, if they aren’t doing it, how do they know it’s really going to work? What’s the return on investment for you going to be?
When you are spending big bucks to hear what the pros are saying, shouldn’t you see results in your own business because of it? Well, I guess that depends on you and how serious you are taking your business.
So I will ask again, are you a guru or a doru? That statement got me to thinking about something else I would like to share…
It’s so important to be what you say you are. Your actions to manifest who and what you are, there are so many people I know just doing “stuff” that they never really get anything done. They are always so busy telling others how to run a successful business, but yet they don’t even have one.That’s scary!
When you are the real deal, people will know it. If you are not the real deal, you just might be able to trick a few people, but it won’t last. What I’m getting at is, take the time to invest in yourself, learn what you need to learn. Put in the time and dig in, don’t try to be a teacher overnight because that could come back and bite you in the butt.
Take the time to invest in yourself, be what you say you are in all areas of life… Success will come.

Well, you have probably heard of the term Google slapped, I just got Wordpress slapped! Let me explain…
When I first started with the company I am apart of now, I was using blogs to help promote my business, from myspace to blogger and wordpress. I loved it! I ended up liking Wordpress the best out of all of them. At first it was a little hard to get the hang of it, but well worth the effort.
I started focusing more and more on using Wordpress, the thing I didn’t do was download the Wordpress software and have it hosted myself. I had Wordpress host it, BIG MISTAKE!!
The reason why I say big mistake is, Wordpress has gotten aggressive about blogs used for mlm, affiliate marketing and anything close to that. They don’t like it and they WILL deactivate your blog!
That’s what happened to me a few nights ago, I was checking my stats and rankings with some of my blogs. With two of my blogs that I made for my primary company ranked spots one, two and three in Google, that made me happy. I was the first thing people saw when searching for my company. Well I went and clicked on my site and it went to a page that said I was in violation and my account had been suspended.
To say I was unhappy about it would be an understatement, but this also has forced me to make some changes and modifications. For the past two days I have been making brand new blogs with the same content I had before. But this time, I am hosting them myself, so more Wordpress telling me what I can or can’t do. So for this post, I want to stress the importance of hosting wordpress yourself. There are many hosting companies out there, I am going through www.SureWireHosting.com.
In the days and weeks to come I will be going over SEO (search engine optimization) and how to get your site to rank well in the organic search engines. But for now, learn from my mistakes and do things the right way. Don’t let Wordpress host your blogs!
For those of you have read Mike Dillard’s book Magnetic Sponsoring, you understand the Alpha concept. With that concept in mind, have you even been in an alpha war?
Have you ever been talking with a prospect and they start making the demands, they start telling you what you are going to do for them? They control the conversation. Well, that’s not good when that happens. I am a firm believer we need to be professionals and leaders and when someone challenges our leadership, we don’t back down. Now let me make this clear, I’m not talking about being an egotistical jerk, what I am talking about is, holding your ground and raising the standard in the MLM Industry.
When you have a prospect sizing you up over the phone or in person, don’t sweat it. Be yourself and be what you are to your team, if that’s a leader, then be a leader.
There are always going to be other people out there that are true “alphas” and alpha wannabes. Either way this is great motivation to hone your skills and add value to yourself. The more you can offer to others that many other people can’t offer to their team, the more valuable you become. I talk to many people who have no clue about how to use the Internet to promote their business, so I become valuable in their eyes because I can help them with that. See what I mean? This is where a lot of people start getting puffed up on pride, then they become jerks. You don’t want that to happen to you, so watch out!
In the heat of an alpha war, you need to remember to keep your cool, don’t get mad, leave that for the other guy to do. If you start talking in a bad way, you just lost.
As you continue to position yourself as a professional, there will be people out there to challenge you. Good, you will grow from that too!
I remember talking with a guy who had contacted me about my opportunity; this guy had been in Network Marketing for many years and had done a pretty good job from what he said. The second time we talked on the phone he said he was debating between signing up with me and another guy. He then went on to talk about me signing a contract with him stating I would do such and such for him. Well, that was the end for me. I politely told him the choice was his to make, that he needed to go with the person who would be the best support for him. I also went on to tell him that I didn’t need him to succeed. The call was ended soon after that.
The point, yeah he probably could have brought many into my team, but it’s not worth the headache dealing with someone who is going to demand you to do things that are his job to do! My success does not rely on that guy and neither does yours, so don’t get desperate and sign up someone who is going to suck the life out of you.
Once again, that could have been taken as egotistical, but it’s not. Alphas protect what’s valuable to them, their time, their family, their team, etc. They are not going to compromise that for some demanding guy. It’s all a part of the alpha war.

With everyone wanting to get good search engine rankings and studying SEO (Search Engine Optimization), there are a few tricks that you can use to get your name out there. Things like Squidoo. Squidoo is a website designed to make it easy for anyone, for free, to set up a single page on a topic he or she knows or cares a lot about. You can make these single pages about you, your business, a product you are marketing, etc. Each page is called a lens and the cool thing about these lenses is Google loves them! Each lens you make will be hosted by Squidoo and spidered by Google.You might be asking why you would need to do this if you already have a web site or a blog. Good question…Your site or blog might not be getting the best page ranking, but if you make a lens about your site or blog, chances are that lens will get good rankings, possibly out ranking your site!
Here is a link to a lens I just made for one of my business opportunities, so you can see an example of the things you can do: http://www.squidoo.com/XediaTechnologiesSo when making your lens you have some options on what you can put on it. You want to make it eye appealing, with good content and good key words. You will be able to put pictures, articles, benefits, youtube videos, iTunes, Twitter, comments section and more!So let’s cover a few things you will want to remember when making your lens.
1.If you haven’t already set you an account at www.squidoo.com then fill out your profile.
2.When making the title and URL of your lens make sure it uses the main key words you are going for. For example in the one I showed you, my main key words were: “Xedia Technologies”.
3.Choose which features you want to use. When writing in the “Text” section, be sure to put in good content that will catch your readers eye. Also, don’t forget about the Key words.
4.You will want to use the RSS option in your lens, so your readers can subscribe to it. (you can get your RSS feed link from your blog)
5.I really like the youtube feature, if you have your own youtube account and have videos that are relevant to your lens, add it! People love to watch videos!
6.If you would like people to be able to comment on it, leave that feature there. I like to have it because if people start commenting on it, it will bring more traffic to my lens.You will also be able to add links to your other web sites and blogs, so be sure to do that! After you are done creating your lens, you can write about it in your blog, post it in stumbleupon,Twitter about it to get more traffic to your lens.
So have some fun with Squidoo and generate more traffic to your site. You can make as many lens as you want, so if you have more than one product, you might want to make a lens for each one! Happy Squidooing!
I was just checking out Lynn Terry’s blog Clicknewz.com and found that she had just posted about the Flip Camera. Which reminded me I had made a video for all of you when I was in Branson last week and forgot all about it! My bad! Anyways, using videos has grown in popularity in the Industry. But, there are still MANY who aren’t doing it. I will be doing an article soon about all the different ways you can do video marketing. But I want to focus on a cool little tool called the Flip Camera. It’s super easy to use and costs about $150. The really cool thing about it is, the “flip” feature in this cam, there is a USB connector that flips out and you can plug it into the USB port in your computer and upload you videos. When it comes to building a down line, as most of you know can be a hard thing at times. But what do you do when your down line starts dropping out? There are some people that do need to just drop out, they don’t have the right attitude and they only signed up to begin with was to make money fast. But how do you keep the rest from getting discouraged when times are hard? The following are some ideas you can do to build and keep a strong team.
-Training calls. This is probably the first thing people will start doing and if you can get your team to call the right number on the right day, it can work great! Just make sure you are talking about what your team needs. If they aren’t getting the training they need, they won’t call anymore. I have used http://www.midwestconferenceline.com/ which is a free conference call service.
-When your team is spread out all over the place it’s great to use the Internet to keep in touch with everyone. Discussion Forums are a great way people can stay up to date on things going on, get links to training resources, ask questions and get to know each other. There are many free forum software programs out there you can use.
-Team Blog. Blogs are a great way to post updates and/or training advice. You can also use a team blog to get more leads. I did this with the Xedia Elite Team blog. Plus it’s a great way to teach you team about Social Networking. You can set up one with Facebook, Myspace, Wordpress or Blogger. The choice it yours.
-Emails. I personally recommend using an auto responder, so you can write one “Team Email” and send it to your whole down line. You can also have pre-written emails that every new team member will receive no matter when they sign up. It will make everyone feel like part of the team.I have a few more tricks up my sleeve but, I’ll save those for another time. If people aren’t willing to do the above they won’t do my other techniques. Remember, people like to feel like they belong to something, so make being a part of your team a great experience. People also like to know that when they sign up with you they aren’t going to be left in the dark all alone. By doing the ideas above, you are also positioning yourself as a leader and a professional. Which means, if you ever move to another company, many of your team members will follow.
It’s been said that the Network Marketing and Home Based Business Industry is recession proof. Let’s explore that statement…With the economy the way it is, it is making it harder for the common family to make it. With the rise of gas, food and everything else it’s going to effect a whole lot! I also own a storefront, one customer of mine always comes in talking about how in by the time 2010 gets here, we will be back to the 1930s! He is raising all kinds of animals in preparation for this recession. Well, I don’t know if I totally agree with his statement, but one thing is true, things aren’t looking great and it is a good idea to have a plan B.
So as far as making money is concerned, I do think Network Marketing is a great plan B. Especially if you are taking the time to learn how to market online. You don’t have to spend money on gas driving, you don’t have to stock products, and you have the whole world at your fingertips, instead of just the town you live in.It’s even better if you find a company that has products that people truly want and need. I’m thrilled about how one of the companies I am with sells products to save people money on their electric bills, we even have a gas chip! I think if money is really getting tight for people they will be more likely to spend their money on a product that will save them money instead of a health juice. Not putting down any companies, but think about it!
So if you are thinking about what to do, find a good Network Marketing Company, take the time to invest in yourself and learn how to marketing online. I believe Internet Marketing is probably the best way to be recession proof.

Xedia Technologies is one of the Network Marketing companies I am a part of which makes different technology ranging from Energy Savers, Air Purifiers, EMF Radiation Filters, Light Bulbs, etc. I am going to be going to get certified to marketing the XPower Square which is a three phase industrial power saver. Which will be great for Hotels and places like that, plus if one Hotel buys, hopefully the whole chain will. So I’ll have fun with that.
Another thing I am planning on doing is talking with the Executive Team and talk to them about the “new” way of network marketing, so we shall see how that goes.I’m planning on making some videos while I’m there and put them on our team site. Myself and one other person started the Xedia Elite Team, so when I get back I will be revamping our site, it needs it!
Some people have wondered why they are finding info on Social Marketing, Skype, Split Testing, etc on a site titled MLM Empire Training. Well that’s a good question…This site and the way I do MLM is NOT the traditional ways you have been taught by the companies or your up line. If you read the “about me” section, you will know that I don’t do cold calls, buy leads, or hold home meetings and I DON’T chase down every person who is breathing and give them a business card!My point in telling you all of this is, the reason I started this site, is the same reason I started The Fusion Formula and that’s because I’m tired of seeing people fail in Network Marketing. What we are teaching here are life skills, you will be able to take what you learn and apply them to any online business. Yes, it does take more time to learn, but guess what…You own a business! There are things to learn! When you take the time to learn the “new” way of doing things, you are building a much stronger, longer lasting business. Plus, you will be building multiple streams of income and when you are doing all of that, you will find yourself with an MLM Empire! And that’s a good thing!
So take the time to learn, invest in yourself. The more you learn and invest in yourself the more valuable you become to others and more will want to buy and/or sign up with you.

I thought it was a dumb idea for people that didn’t have anything better to do. But as I learned more about it, I started to understand how powerful Twitter could be for the Network Marketer. Truthfully there aren’t too many people in the MLM Industry I would want to follow, except a few. There are a few however in the Online Marketing Industry that I am following at the moment and I am enjoying it. The cool thing is Twitter also supplies widgets and HTML code where you can place Twitter in your myspace, facebook, blogger, web sites, etc. Which means more people will have the opportunity to follow you. (example:http://www.myspace.com/mlmempiretraining)It has been said that Twitter will eventually become more popular than Facebook, which means if that is true, you need to get involved now!Imagine being able to follow a leader in the Industry or have your own down line follow you. You would be able to see what leaders in the Industry are up to and you can promote things that you are doing to people who are following you. When using this as a marketing tool there are a few things to keep in mind. Not many people are going to care if you are taking a shower or about to eat dinner. So to keep people interested in you, don’t tweet about stupid things. Just like in email marketing, send good content. So when you tweet, give them good stuff, give them stuff that shows you are an expert. Show them that you are a professional and down to business. Ok, still not sure about this whole Twitter thing? If Twitter is done right, you will be able to follow leaders in your industry and see what they are up to, it’s a great way to find out about tools, sites, projects that you wouldn’t normally know about. People can follow you as you post good content with links to your site, your projects, affiliate sites, or just cool tools and sites you have come across. Now you can also follow others not just to find out cool things, but you can also see if someone might be stuck or unsure about something they want to do. That’s when you come in being the expert that you are and help them. By doing so, you might just have made a business partner, a client, or a friend for life. Now because this was an Email Marketing Mini Series, there is still much more we can talk about. If you still haven’t chosen to go with a good auto responder and are using Hotmail, Yahoo or something like that to email your list, you might want to reconsider. When you do a mass email with let’s say Hotmail, every person you send that email to also sees all the email addresses you are sending your “mass email” too. This is NOT good! For a few reasons, first of all it now loses the personal feel to the reader when they realize this is just another mass email. Second, it shows everyone how many is in your list. So if you are trying to come across is a big time successful marketing and people are seeing you only have 14 people you are emailing, they are going to know you are probably just starting out as well.Thirdly and most importantly, if one of the people you are emailing with your “mass email” decides to be sneaky, that person can simply copy all of your list’s emails and us them for him or herself! Wouldn’t that be a bummer!So bottom line…Get a good auto responder and do things the right way. Be a professional.

Now that you already have a capture page set up and have a good auto responder like Aweber, how do you get your emails to your list without fighting with the spam filters?It’s pretty simple and it will make stand out from the crowd and look like a professional. Let’s say you are offering people who opt in to your business opportunity capture page a free “Three steps to success with company X” report full of good content. That’s a great idea! But don’t just write this report and email it to them. Because your report is probably full of key words the spam filters look for you don’t want the spam filters to read your report. So I recommend making your report into a PDF file. Then write a short and sweet email telling your prospect to “click the following link below to download their free report.”This is a great idea because it gets your emails through the spam filters and it makes you look much more professional giving them an eBook style report. They will be much more likely to save and/or print out your report than if you had just sent them a regular text email.You can make PDF files with http://www.primopdf.com/ or http://www.openoffice.org/ both are free downloads. Now before we go any further I want to stress this is NOT for people who want to spam emails! We hate spam! Ok, let’s keep going.Email lists are not for spamming, no one like to receive junk in the inbox. Its one thing to get your emails into the reader’s inbox and it’s another to get them to open and read your email. So there are a few things to keep in mind.1. Always give good content to your readers. Over deliver, give up tips, advice, and updates, whatever. Just make sure it’s good, valuable content. By doing this you are positioning yourself as a professional and an expert. When people view you as this, they will look forward to seeing your name pop up in their inbox!2. Don’t try sell stuff! People don’t like to be sold, so just as we mentioned above, offer good content. If you are offering a products that helps people save money on their electric bill, don’t write all about your product. Write about the reader’s problems of spending too much on their electric bill and how that hard earned money could be going other places, then offer the solution (your product) but do it in a way that doesn’t seem like you are trying to cram something down their throat.
